href=\"http:\/\/www.maydreamsgardens.com\/2016\/08\/garden-bloggers-bloom-day-august-2016.html\" target=\"_blank\">Garden Blogger&#8217;s Bloom Day<\/a>, but before leaving I snapped a few shots of the flowering activity around our hillside. \u00a0The gentian pictured above is a vigorous spreader in the Alpine bed that is a reliable harbinger of fall. \u00a0The feathery insides of the flower make it one of the prettiest flowers I know.<\/p>\n<p>The rest of the yard is dominated by the hardy annuals and sturdy perennials that can make it through a dry Maryland summer. \u00a0A great example
