class=\"wp-caption-text\">Annapurna panorama<\/p><\/div>\n<p>We returned last week from a trip to Nepal that lasted most of October. \u00a0Hard to summarize the adventure except to say that it was a lifetime experience that will provide memories for years to come. \u00a0The natural world there is every bit as exceptional as the mountain scenery would promise with butterflies, plants, and birds that stretch the imagination. \u00a0But the people were the most wonderful part of the trip. \u00a0More about Nepal\u00a0in a separate posting if I ever get through my several thousand images.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime we returned to the mid-atlantic to find that autumn\u00a0season\u00a0has taken a very relaxed approach this year. \u00a0While our typical first frost is around the 20th of October, it hasn&#8217;t even come close to that. \u00a0Many flowers are still doing quite well thank you. \u00a0The pineapple sage which is always a late bloomer has had time to go on and on class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fall Crocus<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Our usual flowering hero for this time of year would be the red Camellia Sansanqua but last years fluctuating winter has left it without flower buds. \u00a0On the other hand a newly planted &#8216;Survivor&#8217; Camellia is putting out lovely white flowers.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4301\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption oleifera).<\/p>\n<p>Another few flowers of the white persuasion are two japanese anemones and a wonderful David Austin Rose &#8216;Crocus Rose&#8217;.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_4308\" style=\"width: href=\"http:\/\/www.pacificbulbsociety.org\/pbswiki\/index.php\/Oxalis\" target=\"_blank\">Pacific Bulb Society&#8217;s<\/a> bulb exchanges last year.<\/p>\n<p>However, the most dramatic flower in the class=\"wp-caption-text\">Cypella peruviana<\/p><\/div>\n<p>It is also known as\u00a0Hesperoxiphion peruvianum, how&#8217;s that for a mouthful? \u00a0It is supposed to be marginally hardy in our area so I might try of few of the bulbs outside next year. \u00a0It seems to be spreading rapidly in the pot. \u00a0This is a fairly good size flower \u2014\u00a0similar to a dutch iris \u2014 and a
